Parents and Citizens

We are a group of parents/caregivers and community members, just like you, who care about the students of Lynwood Senior High School, and are prepared to spend a small amount of time to raise funds to spend on areas of need within the school. We welcome people from all backgrounds to give us a range of different ideas and views.

If you haven’t been to a P&C meeting yet, come along to help decide P&C priorities for spending in 2016. Every parent, caregiver, and interested community member is welcome to come along and join the P&C.

We hold meetings twice per term in the 2nd and 8th week in the LSHS School Conference Room at 6.30pm.

The AGM is held in March each year.

We welcome new ideas. Some we will pursue this year include:Starting a scholarship Partnership Register of parents, businesses and community members willing to help out the work of the P&C (expertise, goods, services…)

  • P&C logo/letterhead design competition.
  • Cover the bike rack.
  • Establish a building fund.

To discuss and progress these ideas or to tell us about your own ideas, come along to a meeting or contact a P&C member (See below).

Where does our income come from?

  • Profits from the Canteen are used by the P&C for the benefit of students. When we have more volunteers, we receive more money from the canteen to spend on the students’ needs.
  • Voluntary Contributions paid each year by parents/caregivers when paying their School Contributions and Charges
  • A percentage of the takings from the Uniform Shop are donated to the P&C
  • Recycling aluminium cans and mobile phones provides a small, ongoing income following the environmental ethos of the school

How does the P&C use the money?

  • Over the last two years we have:
  • Supported the Soccer and Netball tour to Singapore.
  • Funded a new student Award for performance in the area of the Environment and Life Sciences.
  • Updated the classics and favorites collection in the Library.
  • Bought a Digital Stage Piano for the Music Dept.
  • Built a 3rd Gazebo to provide shade and a more attractive environment.
  • Contributed to funding of the Chaplain at LSHS to provide emotional support for students.
  • Supported the School Nurse in a “Cyber safety “ presentation.
  • Replaced worn canteen workbenches.
  • Provided support and a financial contribution to assist LSHS students who represented WA in AFL, soccer, and athletics.

Volunteers always welcome!
Canteen volunteers are always welcome. Volunteers help make lunches and serve at the counter during recess and lunch times. Training provided.
When we use more volunteers, we pay less out in wages so a greater profit is returned for the needs of the students’.
An average day is 5 hours or you can choose to come for just a few hours. Whether you help in the canteen one day per term, or one day per week it means we raise more money to spend on the Students’ needs at school.
Canteen volunteers may require a Working With Children Check and will be assisted to obtain this.

To help in the Canteen, contact the Canteen Supervisor on 9354 0626 to offer your help.
Every little bit helps.
