The Gamer Anime Club started in 2018 to offer students an optional outlet during lunch breaks. The aim of the club is to create a friendly and supportive environment which enables students to develop their social and team-building skills.
Currently students compete in teams in games such as Mario Kart, Super Smash Bro’s or in single player tournaments. These are short, sharp gaming sessions extending no more than three – five minutes per player. After this, students are required to hand the controllers to other members of their team or peers.
The school plans to expand the activities offered to incorporate viewing of an age appropriate anime for students who do not wish to compete. Ultimately, the school would like to host a Gamer night for students who have maintained Good Standing and offer small prizes for winning teams.
This club is accessed voluntarily via student “opt-in” and attendance is not compulsory for any student.
